Fifteen of the fifty most valuable bulk Pokemon cards on the market today are printed Common. The one at the top is a Rare, an Umbreon from SV: Prismatic Evolutions at number 059/131, and TCGplayer had it at $54.11 on October 14, 2026. The card sitting fiftieth still clears thirteen dollars. Every one of the fifty shares a single feature, and it is not the rarity symbol in the corner.

All fifty are Master Ball Pattern cards, an alternate foil treatment that exists in three sets and nowhere else: SV: Prismatic Evolutions, SV: Black Bolt and SV: White Flare. We scanned every Common, Uncommon and Rare printing across the 39 Pokemon sets released since January 2023, which came to 6,605 printings carrying a live market price, and sorted them by what they sell for. The Master Ball cards took all fifty places. They also took 101 of the 102 printings trading at or above ten dollars.

What the most valuable bulk Pokemon cards have in common

The Master Ball Pattern is not the only alternate foil in those sets, and that is the part that costs people money. Poke Ball Pattern cards come out of the same three sets and read the same way at arm's length. There are 260 of them carrying a price, their median sits at 34 cents, and the strongest single card among them is Hilda from SV: White Flare 084/086 at $3.42. The 211 Master Ball cards have a median of $9.44, and even the weakest one still fetches 98 cents.

A third treatment turned up in the scan, the Energy Symbol Pattern from ME: Ascended Heroes, 140 priced printings whose best card is a Rayquaza at $2.38. So one of the three alternate foils in print carries real money and two of them do not, which means the thing to look at is the foil itself rather than the symbol. Our guide to how to sort bulk Pokemon cards covers the lamp tilt that separates one foil pattern from another.

Why this list looks nothing like the one TCGplayer publishes

TCGplayer runs the same kind of report on their seller blog, and not one Master Ball card appears on it. So why would the biggest published version of this list leave out every card at the top of ours? Their own method note answers it: the July 15, 2026 edition says the special pattern cards from Prismatic Evolutions, Black Bolt, White Flare and Ascended Heroes were excluded, because "otherwise, they would have been the entire list". Our scan is the arithmetic sitting under that aside, and all fifty places on the table above are Master Ball cards.

Their number one that month was Slowpoke from SV07: Stellar Crown 057/142 in reverse holo at $5.62. We read the same card at $4.67 on October 14. The Hilda they ranked third had fallen from $3.30 to $2.23 by the time we read it, while the Poke Ball Hilda they excluded sits at $3.42, which would have beaten their own third place card.

What a buylist pays for these

QuickFlips, one of the larger mail in buylists still taking bulk, published a rate of five cents a card for holo and reverse holo commons, uncommons and rares when we read their board on October 14, 2026. A Master Ball Pattern Maractus is a holo common. Sent in on that line it is worth five cents, against a market price of $26.43 the same day.

We are not holding that up to sell you an alternative. We closed our own mail in buylist on October 1, 2026, so there is no board of ours for this post to point at. The nine shops we priced for our bulk Pokemon card price guide all pay by category, and a category rate cannot see a foil pattern, which is the whole reason this keeps happening. Two QuickFlips lines did move since we last read that board on September 7: VMAX and VSTAR went from sixty cents a card to seventy five, and rainbow foil ultra rares doubled from two dollars to four.

The list if your box predates 2025

Prismatic Evolutions landed in January 2025, so a box packed before that holds none of the fifty above and the numbers for it are much flatter. Of the 6,134 ordinary printings in the scan, the median card is worth 21 cents and 89 of them clear a dollar. Only two get past five dollars. The best of the lot is Snorlax from SWSH: Crown Zenith 109/159 in reverse holo, which TCGplayer had at $13.56 on October 14.

# Card Set Printing Oct 14
1 Snorlax CRZ 109/159 Reverse holo $13.56
2 Gengar MEW 094/165 Reverse holo $8.53
3 Basic Darkness Energy (Cracked Ice) SVE 015 Holo $4.94
4 Slowpoke SCR 057/142 Reverse holo $4.67
5 Snorlax MEW 143/165 Reverse holo $4.31
6 Basic Grass Energy (Cracked Ice) SVE 009 Holo $3.99
7 Mewtwo MEW 150/165 Reverse holo $3.92
8 Metang TEF 114/162 Reverse holo $3.91
9 Slowpoke SCR 057/142 Normal $3.38
10 Dragonair MEW 148/165 Reverse holo $3.25

CRZ is SWSH: Crown Zenith, MEW is SV: Scarlet & Violet 151, SVE is the Scarlet & Violet energy set, SCR is SV07: Stellar Crown and TEF is SV05: Temporal Forces.

The ordinary cards also change hands far more often, which a ranked list hides completely. TCGplayer's own thirty day history has that Metang selling 376 copies in reverse holo between September 15 and October 14, and the Stellar Crown Slowpoke selling 305. The Umbreon at the top of our list sold 49 in the same window and the Victini behind it sold 17. Somebody holding a Master Ball card is waiting for a buyer to turn up rather than naming a price, and that is a different kind of asset to a three dollar Metang with a queue behind it.

What moved since September

We priced 6,519 of these printings on September 14 and published the result in our post on what bulk Pokemon cards are worth money. Five weeks later the same scan carries 6,605, the ordinary median moved from 20 cents to 21, and the number of ordinary cards clearing a dollar fell from 93 to 89, which is four cards in five weeks.

The top of the list is another story. The Master Ball Umbreon was $78.42 on September 14 and it is $54.11 today, down about 31 percent in five weeks. Snorlax went the other way, from $12.13 to $13.56. Gengar from SV: Scarlet & Violet 151 094/165 in reverse holo slipped from $9.60 to $8.53, and the Temporal Forces Metang came off $4.87 to $3.91. If you are buying rather than sorting, our bulk Pokemon cards page explains how the quantity price breaks work on a single title.

This list gets measured again and reposted at this same address in the first week of November. The number worth watching is whether the Master Ball block keeps sliding, because Umbreon has given up roughly a third of its price in five weeks while the ordinary cards underneath it have moved by pennies.
