Who we are
Monster & Shield sells Pokemon trading cards and operates a buylist that purchases cards from the public, from North Charleston, South Carolina. Using the site means you accept these terms.
Purchases
Prices are in US dollars. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. Placing an order reserves your items for the checkout window, and the sale completes when payment succeeds. Every order ships with the exact card and count stated in your cart, at the per card rate your quantity earned. Shipping charges and timing are described on the shipping page. Sales tax is calculated by Stripe Tax from your delivery address in the states where we are registered to collect it, and the amount shows on the payment page before you pay.
Buylist submissions
The estimate produced by the submission portal is not an offer. It is arithmetic on the counts you declare. A binding offer exists only after your cards arrive and our recount is complete. Our count governs; any category adjusted more than 10 percent from your declaration is shown to you side by side. SENDING YOUR CARDS IS FINAL: title in the cards passes to us when the package is delivered to us, and we do not return bulk submissions. Do not send cards you want back. What you choose is the form of payment, not whether payment happens. Offers stay open 14 days with a reminder at day 10; if you do not respond we pay you using the payout method you selected at submission. Submissions with no box received within 30 days close automatically. Inbound shipping is at your cost and risk until we receive the package, unless you buy a prepaid label from us, in which case the label is ours and the carrier terms apply from the moment you hand the package over.
Store credit
Store credit is a balance on our ledger tied to your email, redeemable for site purchases and not for cash. Credit balances do not expire. If an order paid partly with credit is refunded, the credit portion returns to your balance.
Returns and problems
Our count guarantee is checkable: count your order on arrival, and if it is short or misdescribed we make it right per the returns policy.
Acceptable use
Do not scrape the shop into oblivion, probe the buylist with fake submissions, or attempt to manipulate credit balances. We can refuse service, cancel orders in unfixable error, and decline submissions that do not match their declarations.
Intellectual property
Pokemon and all character names and images on genuine cards are trademarks of Nintendo, Creatures Inc., and GAME FREAK inc. We sell authentic secondhand cards and are not affiliated with those companies. Our own site text, photography, and design belong to Monster & Shield.
Liability
Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us for the transaction at issue. We are not liable for postal loss of inbound buylist packages.
Changes
When these terms change, the effective date above changes with them, and material changes get a note on this page for 30 days.
